Garbage Collection & Trash Disposal
Garbage collection and waste management is carried out by the Central Newfoundland Waste Management Authority.
All garbage and trash is hauled off Change Islands and disposed of at the Norris Point waste facility. A garbage truck comes to Change Islands on Friday (once a week in summer, bi-weekly in winter) to collect home garbage.
For annual garbage pickup schedules and any up to date info see "Change Islands Community News" on FaceBook.
Your garbage must be in bags and available close to the road for pick-up by the garbage truck.
Change Island no longer has a garbage dump. All waste is now hauled off the island. For other than household waste we have a waste site where waste (listed below) can be dropped off and held until being hauled away. This includes all construction waste. This site is locked and unavailable except for certain times.
The Town of Change Islands would like to inform all residents that the Change Islands Waste Site will be open Fridays 2:00pm – 4:00pm, May – November to collect waste other than household garbage.
There will be an attendant on site during hours of operation (2:00pm to 4:00pm) to ensure that items will be placed in the proper designated areas. When unloading your items please separate them as much as possible as this will help the attendant direct you to the proper location at the site.
Garbage bags, plastics and cardboard are not permitted.
The fee per load is $10.00.
(A receipt will be given to you at the site.)
